By data-free messaging on WhatsApp, Messenger and Twitter, do you mean that messaging on these applications won’t count towards my data allowance?
That’s right! Tweets, messages, pictures and videos sent through these applications on Virgin Mobile 4G plans will not count towards your monthly data allowance. Calling functions (voice or video) on these applications will continue to count towards your monthly data allowance, as will live video streaming on Twitter.
Will any of my personal data be shared with WhatsApp, Facebook or Twitter?
No, we don’t share any information with WhatsApp, Facebook or Twitter. The only personal information shared with WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger and Twitter is the information that you’ve agreed to share.
What’s covered by data-free messaging on WhatsApp, Messenger and Twitter?

All tweets and messages are data-free. This includes sending and receiving pictures, videos, audio files and any attachments. You can also use the group messaging functionality without eating into your data. Calling functions (voice and video) will continue to count towards your monthly data allowance, and so will live video streaming on Twitter.


Can I use WhatsApp, Messenger and Twitter even if I’ve run out of data?
Sure! However, once your monthly data allowance has been reached and you continue to use data on your phone (including WhatsApp, Messenger and Twitter), you will be charged £3 per 1GB (or part thereof) a day (resetting at midnight that day).
Is voice chat included?
No. When you make voice calls (including video calls) within the WhatsApp and Messenger applications you use your data allowance.
Is live video streaming included?
No. When you watch or upload live streaming video on Twitter you use your data allowance.
Are any other services free rated by Virgin Media?

Yes, all 4G customers including mobile broadband and data SIM customers have access to free messaging on WhatsApp, Messenger and Twitter.
I’m upgrading from 3G to 4G. Will I be able to send data-free messages on WhatsApp, Messenger and Twitter straight away?
Yes, that's correct. Sending messages on WhatsApp, Messenger and Twitter is data-free as soon as you move to a 4G plan from your old 3G plan and start using the service.
If I go abroad, will WhatsApp, Messenger and Twitter use my data?
Yes, you will be charged as per the normal roaming charges when outside of the UK.
