Using an iPad?

Please note that international roaming on 3G only works on iPads with iOS 7 and above, though you can still connect to WiFi anywhere in the world with older generation iPads.


How do I check my balance?

The easiest way to check your balance is by logging in to Your Account online. You can do this at virginmobile.co.uk.

To register for your account you will need your SIM number. This can be found on the back of the plastic card you popped your SIM card out of. We will also email it to you when your bill is ready to use.

If you have an Android tablet or iPad you can download our free My Account app:

  • For Android tablets go to Google Play, search for ‘Virgin Mobile My Account’ then click the Install button to download.
  • For iOS tablets, open the App Store. search for ‘Virgin Mobile My Account’. You’ll find the app under the iPad Apps tab at the top of the page, then just select Install App to start the download.

You can also check your balance by logging into Your Account online.

What happens if I go over my balance?
If you go over your allocated monthly data allowance you will be charged £1 per day for unlimited data.
What if I want to use my tablet SIM abroad?

Please note that for the time being international data roaming is only available on iPads with iOS 7.

In the EU customers will need to buy a data pass. To browse in the EU your tablet will need to have the ability to send and receive texts.

To use your SIM aboard you need to call us before travelling on 0345 6000 789*.

Can I use the SIM for calling and texting? And how much will it cost?

Yes you can use your SIM to make calls and texts. Standard call charges apply.

 These are our costs for UK calls. There is no difference between off peak or peak times, call rates always remain
 the same. We will not charge for the freephone numbers of charities and helplines listed on our website. After any  minimum call charge that applies our calls are billed per second and our charges are rounded up to the nearest  penny.
 Calls to landlines 1, Virgin Mobiles,2 Other network mobiles, and  Groupcall  40p per minute
 Calls to Freephone numbers  21p per minute
 Text to all UK network mobiles 2  15p per text
 Minimum call charge  A one minute minimum call duration  applies


  1. This refers to numbers beginning with 01,02 or 03 and landline calls to Guernsey, Jersey and the Isle of Man.
  2. Includes calls and texts to Guernsey, Jersey and the Isle of Man. Many phones can send texts up to three times as long as normal. They'll be delivered as separate messages, so you'll be charged for each. Call forwarding services (that's numbers beginning with for example, 07744 and 07755) are not included.
What happens if I lose my SIM?
Call our help desk on 0345 6000 789* or call free from a Virgin Mobile on 789 or 150 from a Virgin Media landline.
Am I allowed to tether my tablet?
No you cannot use your SIM to tether to another device.
What if I need more than 2GB?
The maximum we offer is 2GB. However we have very competitive out of bundle rates at £1 per day for unlimited data if a customer does exceed their allowance.
How will my bill arrive?
We will email you your bill each month for free. What’s more, you can check your bill anytime online at Your Account online at www.virginmobile.co.uk
Can I buy a tablet from Virgin Media?
