Setting up your mobile

Looking forward to seeing your new mobile in action? Let’s get it up and running quicksmart. Just follow these three simple steps.

1. Love thy number

If you’re attached to your mobile number, why not bring it with you? Once we’ve agreed a switching date, the process usually takes just one working day! All you have to do is:

  1. Call your existing service provider and ask for your Port Authorisation Code (PAC).
  2. Give us a call on 0345 6000 789* and we’ll do the rest. It’s as simple as that!

2. Choose your Tariff Rewards

With every monthly top up of £10 or more you can get unlimited data and texts, or landline minutes and free mobile calls. And if you’re a Virgin Media customer, you even get unlimited calls to Virgin Mobiles. Just text your account or home phone number to 789444.

3. Get the message with voicemail

We don’t want you to miss an important message from your mum, so your voicemail should already be active as soon as you start using your phone. If this hasn’t happened, don’t worry – it’s really easy to set it up yourself.

1. Dial 222 from your mobile, listen to the message and hang up.
2. Keep your phone on for 20 minutes. If you get a text that says PERS, ignore it.
3. After 20 minutes, turn your phone off and on again.
4. You’re all set up!

While you’re at it, why not set up a PIN so nobody else can access your voicemail?

1. Call your voicemail (usually this means holding down the ’1’ key on your phone).
2. Choose option 2 from the first menu (‘change mailbox features’) and follow the instructions.

4. Connect to WiFi to save your data

It’s always a good idea to connect your mobile to WiFi. You won’t get charged for the data you use, plus you should get faster speeds – especially if it’s Virgin Media WiFi.

Just go into your phone’s ‘Settings’ and select your WiFi network. You may need to enter a password to connect.

5. Start using Your Account

Your Account is your own online area where you can manage everything to do with your Virgin Mobile account, 24/7. See how many minutes or texts you’ve got left, top up your credit, check your phone works abroad and more.

6. Set up web, email and picture messaging

If you have a smartphone, you can do lots of cool things online, like browsing the web and sending emails and picture messages. But to do all this, you’ll first need to find your phone in the list and download the settings. (Note: you’ll need to send a picture message before you can start receiving them, so give it a go!)

7. Make sure your phone is set up to work abroad

Your phone should already be activated for use abroad, but if you’d like to double check, just register or log in to Your Account or give us a call on 789 from your mobile.

8. Top up your credit

Now’s the time to add credit so you can start calling, texting and browsing. The easiest way is to set up a direct debit or using a credit or debit card in Your Account, then you can log in whenever you like to top up. You can even top up from your smartphone using our awesome My Account app.

To get your rewards, make sure you’ve got credit on your phone then call 789 and press 3 to choose Big Data & Text Rewards or Big Talk Rewards. Once you’ve chosen your rewards plan, we’ll give you a start-up reward to enjoy over your first 45 days.

To get your rewards next month, you’ll need to top up again before the end of the month – even if you’ve still got credit. We’ll add your rewards on the 1st of every month – if you’ve topped up £10 or more in the previous month.
